It seems to me perhaps he tried to text or phone someone for legal advice, and didn't want the convo overheard - but that might ascribe too much calm and good judgment to someone a bit impaired.  Certainly, some impulse probably was telling him that it was not a good thing to be a sitting County official, and to be found with an elevated BAC, and a couple in a Mercedes that you totalled, heading for a hospital.  And then he maybe realized he couldn't run from this and hide.

  Tolerance Tolerance means to bounce back even when thrown against a very hard wall. The ability to do this comes from sensing that life is a game and that all things move in cycles. What is uncomfortable now will soon change. Tolerance is like saying yes to the game and enjoying it. God's Help At Every Step (Part 2) Everyone expects and wants help from God in times of sorrow.
